I am never sure if someone should promote their non writing interests in a blog like this, but it’s my page so here I go! If someone decides not to read my books because of my personal likes well I guess that’s their problem!

What a month April proved to be. No gigs and I will cover writing updates in a separate post. Liverpool won the league! Our 20th title, meaning that on any sensible measure they are back on their ‘perch’ and by far the most successful team in the country.

The day it was confirmed, against Spurs at home, was just incredible. I have never experienced anything like it. We last won it during covid so couldn’t celebrate together and before that it was 1990 and earlier. We seemed to win it every year then but it was a very different game back then, and I was a kid! The whole city was celebrating.

The team deserve all the plaudits, they are so far ahead its ridiculous and nobody can even say its a poor league when teams as low as 16th and 17th are in European finals.

There has also been a lot of fuss about booing Trent Alexander Arnold, who announced he is leaving on a free at the end of the season. Lots of players get booed – United booed Ronaldo, Zirkzee and Rashford over recent years so it’s not new. Yes, he has been a brilliant player for us but he has strung the club and fans along and his ‘shush’ gestures to the fans haven’t helped. Ultimately he is entitled to make his choices and the fans can decide whether to let him know what they think!

I do think the abuse during the game didn’t help and we dropped points against Arsenal as a result of the players being unsettled. However, most games at Anfield and away from home see opponents chant about poverty, about Hillsborough, about Heysel with little or no comeback. The Kop boo a player who is joining a direct rival and the footballing world loses its mind! Bizarre.

Anyway, this year is about the team and I can’t wait to see us get the trophy on 25 May!
