Not the usual Springsteen

July was yet more gigs, a weekend in London to see Duran Duran at Hyde Park. I have seen them many times and it’s always good fun. What made it a more special day was that they were supported by Nile Rodgers, a true great. His hour long support slot was fantastic, driving home just how many hit records he has worked on.

The weather was fantastic and for once I had paid for VIP so it was easier to get out for food and drink. I hadn’t done BST at Hyde Park before, and would recommend it to anyone. Nile later came out with Duran to play Notorious and their new collaboration Free to Love.

The next night was a far smaller gig, Alana Springsteen – no relation – in Manchester. I have only recently discovered her and she is a fantastic talent, writing her own stuff and during the show she plays guitar and keyboard. She is also very funny. Her new album Hope This Helps is really good.

I am keeping this update short as I finally, as we reach the end of August, need to get back into the writing that was the purpose of this blog!
