As followers will know, I am back in the querying trenches.
I was published in the UK, with Northodox Press (with books shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Walter Scott Prize amongst others) and unfortunately they went through a rather traumatic period with one of its owners choosing to walk away and cash flow problems.
All rights have reverted back to me, including the edited files and covers. I loved working with them but despite having had a successful start to my short publishing career I find myself back looking for agents and publishers.
The Triton Run was published via Northodox in March 2025. There are a handful of copies left in Waterstones.

The Triton Run (circa 103,000 words) was published in March, sold out of its first print run at Gardners within 12 weeks and unfortunately, due to cash flow issues, Northodox were unable to afford to print the planned second run, including stock that was intended to go to Barnes & Noble and the USA. They sold more of The Triton Run in a week than any other Sci Fi / fantasy book they had published.
Jovian Sunset is unpublished, and while it continues the story is intended to operate as a standalone (I think it can be sold both ways). It was edited by Northodox and I have it in word, ready to be typeset before a further edit. I was more recently contracted to write a third to come out in 2027. I had mapped much of it out and written 15,000 words toward it.
The last 2 years have shown that I am professional, enthusiastic, able to meet deadlines and capable of writing a book a year.
The reception was positive, with reviews of above 4 stars on Goodreads and Amazon. (Most goodreads ones have vanished as Northodox took the book down from amazon)
I am also rather proud of this one: https://www.martynwinters.com/book-review-the-triton-run-by-paul-s-edwards/480
Comps & Elevator Pitch (now based on reviews and feedback). The Triton Run (and Jovian Sunset) is classic space opera in the spirit of Iain M Banks and Alastair Reynolds, with the pace of the Expanse series and Alien overtones. It has been recognised for being character led, with positive female and mature (older) characters. Issues explored include the loss of citizenship, characters carrying trauma, war criminals and a unique spin on terrorism in space against the backdrop of first contact. Overall, it is intended to entertain!
Promotion
With an indie press we have to do most of our own promotion, and seek out our own opportunities.

I am confident in promoting myself and put the effort in. Only one other author at Northodox was stocked in more Waterstones than I. We got stocked because I made contacts – I am prepared to do the hard work to get sales!
I can provide a type set pdf of what was to be the 2nd print run of The Triton Run. For Jovian Sunset, I have an edited word document that I can provide separately if it helps.
I am committed to developing a writing career. Another space opera is in the process of being revised for completion late spring. I know that James Keane and Ted O’Connor at Northodox will both vouch that I am good to work with!
